 Marine Photo After Restoration

Marine After
I try to restore items to their original look, so complete rebinding of books is something I seldom do. I try to repair with a similar product to maintain the basic appearance, with pieces of leather or paper made in the same period as your item.  Photo’s are normally cleaned, repaired, then sealed in archival products.  The item can be computer enhanced to remove all damage, then copies made for other relatives.  Documents have several levels of repair from minor patching to complete rebuilding. The process of restoring books and documents is expensive, hence before you decide to have something restored, please ask yourself:

Is it for resale or of value to my family heritage?
A. Resale item should be worth over $1000 to make it economical for repair.
B. Family value makes it priceless for your family and hard to place a $$ amount. Family Bibles with family information several hundred years old, make restoration a must within practical limits.

Is the cost within my budget? I cannot quote repair cost without seeing condition of the item but a rule of thumb guideline is:
A. Books $50 and up (ex. Large Family Bibles $150/200)
B. Documents normally start at $35 and cap at $200. (Depending on condition)
C. Photos $25 to $125.
D. Computer enhancing $25 and up.

For estimate: Send items priority mail, insured. I provide you with a plan of repair and cost estimate, if you decide on plan, I complete it, if not I return your item. Time of completion normally covers two/three months.

Please call if you have questions.
