Paul Bocuse was a French chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author who was born on February 11, 1926, in Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or. He passed away on January 20, 2018, ibid. He was regarded as one of the best chefs of the 20th century and the most significant pioneer of nouvelle cuisine. From 1965 to 2019, his restaurant Paul Bocuse, commonly known as L’Auberge du Pont de Collonges, consistently received three Michelin stars. He received the Gault Millau “Chef of the Century” award in 1989. Many of Paul Bocuse’s pupils went on to have successful careers as chefs; in Germany, Eckart Witzigmann, Heinz Winkler, and Franz Keller stand out.
