Antique 1901 Czech-language edition of Henryk Sienkiewicz’s Rodina Polanieckých, offered here as Volumes I and III from the original multi-volume work. Published in Prague by E. Beaufort, this edition was translated from Polish by Dr. D. Panýrek and illustrated by Věnceslav Černý.
This is a handsome pair of compact antique books with decorative brown spines and corners, blue spine labels, and marbled/faux-tortoiseshell style boards. The books display beautifully and have strong appeal for collectors of Sienkiewicz, Czech-language literature, Polish literature in translation, and early 20th-century European book design.
