Description
Original gelatin silver occupational group portrait, July 1922, tied directly to the Newark Evening News (Newark, New Jersey). Eleven workers-likely from the pressroom/production side-pose by a brick wall and barred window in work clothes (overalls, rolled sleeves; one shirtless from hot work). The reverse carries the period inscription: “From Dick Thomas. Newark Evening News, Newark N.J., July 1922.” An excellent, well-composed record of early 20th-century newspaper labor culture with firm date and provenance.
