Description
From what we know, this is a WWII patriotic cover featuring Franklin D. Roosevelt with the slogan “Our Commander-in-chief – See Him Through To Victory.” The cachet is credited in tiny type to Carpenter, Holliston, Mass. and is canceled Holliston, Massachusetts, Oct 28, 1944-just days before FDR’s re-election, a strong campaign-era tie-in. It’s franked with the violet 3¢ “Win the War” (Scott 905). Carpenter/Holliston designs surface far less often than the big commercial cachetmakers, and we have not located this exact portrait-and-slogan design in online references, which adds to the appeal.
