Original 1945 snapshot photograph showing the famous RAF Handley Page Halifax bomber “Friday the 13th” on public display on Oxford Street in London’s West End shortly after World War II.
This is a standout WWII aviation image with exceptional collector appeal. The aircraft name “Friday the 13th” and Handley Page marking are visible on the bomber, and the handwritten reverse identifies the scene as Oxford Street, London, dated Sept. 1, 1945. The note also states that the planes on display were actual aircraft used in the war.
“Friday the 13th” was one of the most famous Halifax bombers of RAF Bomber Command, associated with No. 158 Squadron and remembered for its remarkable combat service record. A postwar public-display photograph of this named aircraft in central London is a scarce and historically rich piece of WWII aviation history.
