Description
Unique look for this classic issue-this First Day cover for the 3¢ Washington & Lee University commemorative (Scott #982) is canceled LEXINGTON, VA / APR 12, 1949 and franked with a plate block of four. The cachet is Smartcraft by Anderson (signed ANDERSON at lower left, SMARTCRAFT at lower right) and it has been hand-colored-you can see the brushlike washes in the blue halos, foliage, and lamp glow. The reverse is blank. Unaddressed and clean overall with light handling as shown in the photos.
