Description
Scarce late-1950s to early-1960s Filmcraft foldout mail-order catalog advertising adult glamour movies, mounted slides, and glossy photographs. Issued by Filmcraft of Box 36676, Los Angeles 36, California, this surviving brochure offers a fascinating look at the private home-viewing market before videotape and modern adult media.
The fully illustrated catalog uses classic mid-century pin-up artwork, model photographs, sensational advertising copy, and an integrated order form. Customers could select from numerous named photographic and movie sets offered in several formats:
* Black-and-white 8mm and 16mm movie reels
* Standard 2 x 2-inch mounted 35mm slides
* 4 x 5-inch glossy photographic prints
* Optional Melton personal film viewer
* More than 20 individually titled glamour subjects
* Period notice stating that buyers must be over 21
Titles include “Wet Water Wilma,” “Smooth Action,” “Teepee Temptresses,” “Water Lily,” “Sweet as Candy,” “Bewitching,” “Fantasy in Flesh,” and other colorfully marketed selections.
The “Los Angeles 36” postal-zone address predates widespread ZIP Code use and helps date the brochure to the closing years of the 1950s or early 1960s. Its combination of early home-movie advertising, private mail-order culture, period censorship language, and unused ordering information makes it an appealing piece for collectors of vintage adult ephemera, pin-up art, 8mm film history, photography, and unusual advertising.
The brochure retains its original foldout format and unused order form. It displays expected light age toning, original fold lines, and minor handling consistent with vintage paper ephemera. Please view all the photos for the complete contents, layout, and condition.
