Description
Original 1969 Derrière le Miroir No. 176 devoted to Alain Le Yaouanc, published by Maeght Éditeur, Paris for the artist’s Galerie Maeght exhibition. This desirable Maeght folio issue features Le Yaouanc’s bold surrealist-modernist imagery, combining fractured architecture, geometric abstraction, figural elements, collage-like space, and rich lithographic color.
The colophon identifies the illustrations as original lithographs by Alain Le Yaouanc, with the exception of noted documentary pages. This example includes the striking large-format lithographic material, including six large print sections and a dramatic multi-panel lithographic section, along with text by Patrick Waldberg, black-and-white documentary reproductions, artist bibliography material, and the original Maeght wrappers.
