Scarce matched group of four original 10 × 8-inch professional football photographs documenting the Football League Second Division match between Orient and Southampton at Brisbane Road on April 25, 1978.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw before an attendance of 19,248. Joe Mayo scored for Orient in the 33rd minute, followed by Southampton’s equalizer from Tony Funnell in the 39th minute.
These photographs capture an especially interesting moment in both clubs’ histories. Orient were completing their celebrated 1977-78 season, during which they reached the FA Cup semifinal, while Southampton went on to finish second in Division Two and earn promotion to the First Division.
Three photographs carry the period stamp of Leyton-based professional football photographer Tony Furby, whose work was published and credited in contemporary Orient match programs.

The photographs display well with expected age-related handling and surface wear. One photograph has old mounting residue across the reverse and light discoloration near the upper-left border. The principal image remains clear and visually appealing.
