Description
A handsome framed pair of mid-19th-century French wood-engraved illustrations after Sir Edwin Landseer’s celebrated companion works-better known in English as “High Life” (the master’s dog) and “Low Life” (the valet’s dog). Each plate carries the French captions “Le Chien du maître, par Landseer – Dessin de Freeman” and “Le Chien du valet, par Landseer – Dessin de Freeman,” with QUARTLEY credited at lower right, consistent with impressions published in Le Magasin pittoresque (c.1852). Ready to hang and great décor for any dog lover or Victorian-era print collector.
