Description
Offered here is an ancient Roman bronze AE follis attributed to Galerius Maximianus, one of the major rulers of the Tetrarchy and a key figure in the late Roman Empire. Galerius ruled as Caesar beginning in AD 293 and later as Augustus until AD 311, during the era of Diocletian’s imperial reforms and the transition toward the Constantine period.
This is a substantial late Roman bronze coin, roughly quarter-sized, with a worn but recognizable imperial obverse bust. The reverse is heavily circulated, but the coin fits the general late Roman follis type associated with Galerius Maximianus issues.
