Description
Original 1939 Verve Vol. II, Nos. 5-6 bifolium from the “special double number” directed by TĂ©riade. The sheet presents two color plates after New Kingdom Egyptian bas-reliefs (recto and verso), accompanied by the inner text spread: “A Word on Two Egyptian Bas-Reliefs of the New Empire” by Charles Boreux (then Louvre curator of Egyptian antiquities) and “On the Human Countenance” by Alain. Period color photogravure/photolithographic printing (ink on paper) as issued-not a modern reprint and not by Constantin Guys (these plates reproduce ancient works). Removed from the binding with the center fold and inner (gutter) margins preserved; typical even border toning and minor handling from age. Untrimmed and ready to mat or frame.
