Description
A crisp First Day Cover for the 50¢ Trans-Pacific “China Clipper” airmail (Scott C22), postmarked Washington, D.C., Feb 15, 1937-the official first-day city/date. The cover features a striking red sunrise/map cachet showing Pacific routes and aircraft, a clean pencil address to J. E. O’Brien (Gen. Del., Washington, D.C.), and a bright red-white-blue airmail border. Condition is excellent for its age with a sharp cancel and fresh paper.
*
Stamp: 50¢ Trans-Pacific Airmail (C22), “China Clipper” design, verified first-day cancel
*
Cachet: unattributed sunrise/map design in red; I haven’t found an identical match in common cachet references, suggesting a smaller-maker/less-seen variety
*
Neat pencil address; envelope colors remain vivid; no distracting creases or stains noted
*
A desirable 1937 airmail FDC from the China Clipper era-great crossover for FDC and aviation collectors
