Description
Aleutians-campaign soldier’s airmail from APO 939 (Dutch Harbor/Fort Mears, Alaska) dated Mar 23, 1943, on the 6¢ orange “Monoplane” airmail postal stationery (Scott UC4). To pay the double-weight concession rate (6¢ per ½ oz), the sender added a vertical strip of three 2¢ “John Adams” Prexies (Scott 806), bringing the total to 12¢. A boxed “PASSED BY U.S. ARMY EXAMINER” censor handstamp completes this fully in-period wartime usage to St. Paul, Minnesota.
