Description
Vivid WWII patriotic cover with the American Art Service cachet, “I’M OUT TO WIN THE SCRAP DRIVE IN OUR DIVISION!” Postmarked Minneapolis, MN (Oct 1943). Franked with the U.S. 6¢ Transport Plane (Scott C25) correctly paying the 1943 domestic airmail rate; a Newfoundland 7¢ airmail (Scott C19) was added as a philatelic decoration. Nice bonus: original Northwest Airlines “AIR MAIL” etiquette-especially fitting for a Minneapolis-origin cover. Please view all photos; we offer combined shipping on covers.
*
Cachet: American Art Service, 1942 “Scrap Drive” tank design; documented AAS issue
*
Stamps: U.S. 6¢ Transport (C25) tied by 1943 cancel; Newfoundland 7¢ (C19) added, not valid for U.S. postage

Why collectors like it: WWII patriotic + airline topical + mixed-franking eye appeal from a Minneapolis origin
*
Rarity note: AAS patriotics were widely produced; this exact cachet is known, but this combination with NWA etiquette and Newfoundland 7¢ is less commonly seen
