Description
This WWII patriotic cover ties together Philadelphia philately and home-front morale in one neat piece. Mailed Nov 6, 1944 from Philadelphia, PA to Kansas City, MO, it features the multicolor “KEEP ‘EM FLYING” globe-and-Allied-flags cachet, plus a great back combo: the SEPAD National Stamp Exhibition / 10th American Philatelic Congress (Dec. 1-3, 1944) poster stamp and a large Irvin Daniel Wolf (Philadelphia label maker) advertising/return label. The franking pairs two contemporary 3¢ commemoratives-Scott 923 (S.S. Savannah, 1944) and Scott 924 (Telegraph Centenary, 1944)-nicely tied by Philadelphia cancels. Similar “Keep ‘Em Flying” patriotics surface, but this Philadelphia show + Wolf advertising pairing is an uncommon, eye-catching twist for WWII patriotic, exhibition, and advertising-ephemera collectors alike.
