This historically rich piece features a humorous War Bond cachet by Carpenter of Holliston, Mass., with a bird laying a “Bond Egg” and a printed verse by Berton Braley encouraging continued bond purchases to help pay for the war.
Franked with three 1¢ Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial stamps (Scott #930), issued in July 1945 to honor the late president, paying the 3¢ first-class letter rate. Addressed to Cpl. D. C. Conner, 15099080, 11th Fighter Squadron, A.P.O. 729, c/o Postmaster, Seattle, Washington-an APO that served Alaska during the war.
