Description

Original 8×10 black and white photograph dated March 24, 1963, documenting an installation ceremony for the Daughters of the Nile and DeMolay in Brea, California. The back of the photo is inscribed with “Violet Bock, 339 So Orange, Brea Calif. – Installation – Daughters of the Nile – March 24, 1963,” along with the names of the people pictured: Dale Tilden (Junior Counselor, DeMolay), Iris Tilden (Queen, Daughters of the Nile), Terry Strom (Master Counselor, DeMolay), and Dan Sealberg (Junior Counselor, DeMolay).

This historically significant image captures a formal Masonic-affiliated event featuring the Daughters of the Nile, an important women’s organization connected to the Shriners, alongside DeMolay, the Masonic youth group. The photograph shows three young DeMolay officers in formal attire flanking Iris Tilden, an older woman holding flowers, who was being installed as Queen of the local court.

Such well-documented fraternal photos from this period are scarce, especially with the full date, location, and names of officers clearly recorded. It offers excellent provenance for collectors of Masonic, Shriners, or fraternal organization memorabilia, as well as local Brea and Orange County history enthusiasts.

Condition is very good overall with slight age-related handling wear typical of original 1960s prints. The photo retains strong contrast and detail. Please view all the photos to assess condition and content for yourself.
