Original 1977 Bellport Playcrafters poster for Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel, signed throughout by members of the cast and crew. The poster advertises the May 26, 27, 28, and 29 performances at Bellport High School and is housed in a frame measuring approximately 20 x 15 inches.
This is a wonderful piece of Bellport, Long Island, and community theater history. The official Bellport Playcrafters archive identifies the 1977 Carousel production cast and crew, including Donna Hailey as Julie Jordan, Ray Rueger as Billy Bigelow, Russelle Thompson as Nettie Fowler, Robert Kinsey as Enoch Snow, Steve Hailey as Jigger Craigin, and Jane Love as director. The poster/program cover is credited to Judy Furman.
The back is inscribed: “Thank you Sue!! 1977 The Carousel Crew,” making this appear to be a signed presentation piece, likely given to one of the production’s Sue-named contributors, possibly producer Sue Kinsey or choreographer Sue Lind.
