Original exhibition catalogue for Vera Lutter’s 2001 show at Kunsthalle Basel, an important early publication on the German-born, New York-based photographer known for her monumental camera-obscura negatives. Issued as Kunsthalle Basel catalogue 42/2001 and now increasingly hard to find, it documents the Basel exhibition held 20 January-16 April 2001, just as Lutter’s work was beginning to appear in major international museums and biennials.
This slender softcover volume (48 pages) includes 17 black-and-white plates reproducing Lutter’s large-scale negative images of harbors, industrial sites, and urban infrastructure, along with an essay by Russell Ferguson. Softcover. Overall very clean with light shelf wear and handling. There is a small irregular patch of surface paper loss on the upper front cover where the top layer of the white cover stock has been lifted (likely from a removed sticker or something adhering to the surface); please see the close-up photo of this area. Corners show only minor rubbing, spine solid. Interior pages are clean and bright with no writing, highlighting, or remainder marks noted; binding tight.
